my name is stephen and i am new to the forum.

i am a christadelphian and through my discussions with fellow members of my ecclesia it has inspired me to reach out to other religions to find out exactly what others believe to enhance my own faith and further bring me closer to our heavenly father.

Results of shunning in my case:

I hardly know my brother and his 'wordly' family as I have shunned my brother since he was 18. I think I saw him 5 times in 20 years.
I have shunned my sister for about 10 years. My niece and nephew hardly know who who their uncle is.
My mother shunned both of them as well, and missed large part of the early years of 3 grandchildren.

Now, since about September I found out JW are not the truth (and I am confident to say neither are Christadelphians or any other religion)

My brother-in-law and his wife have decided to shun me, without even first talking to me about what I decided and why.
Most of the friends I thought I had, part of the most loving people on earth, serving the God of love (JW), never talked to me again when they heard (not from me) I quit. How lovely and loving.
Friends that do still talk to me and think I'm either insane of fooled by the devil.
On the bright side, I started to reconnect with my brother and sister and some friends whom I shunned...

Religious mandated shunning is evil.

Any religion that practises shunning and makes people 'kill' their own family, blame it on the victims, and then call that 'loving' is a cult.

Bets on when the UN prophecy will be dropped?

now that i'm free to bet, i figured it would be neat to start a pool on when the watchtower is going to change light bulbs on the prophecy about the united nations turning on worldwide religion.

there is no doubt in my mind that this prediction will be dropped.

not only is this the longest-running unchanged prediction in the wt's history (1925 and 1975 had much shorter gestations) it's the last detailed concrete prediction the society has left in its bag of tricks.

So, what can we expect will happen during the coming great tribulation? Jehovah will “cut short” the attack of the United Nations on false religion, not allowing true religion to be destroyed with the false.

Un-****ing-Believable

just a few observations from this morning.

.. this morning as i was trying to choke back the bile that kept wanting to come up during the wt study one comment in particular screamed cult.. towards the very end as comments were being made about "counseling" others with "gracious" words one of the uber-dub minstral-serpents made this comment, "we see in the last image that the brother is holding a bible as he counsels the other brother.

we look closely at the picture and we can know exactly what he is counseling the brother about.

Or were the elders just lying?

One could check it out by politely asking 'which one of my brothers has something against me, so I can make it right with him?'

just as i think my loathing for the jw cult has peaked, it goes higher and higher.

i wish this cult would just go away.

i wish my wife would just wake up.

I have doubts... can you help me??- A new idea

i have been perplexed as to how to brung my wife out of jws and to exit the religion... but i had an idea last night.

i know that elders will legitimantly meet with brothers who have doubts and encourage them... not df them .. this is a sheperding call etc.. thus since my wife knows i have doubt s i could say: i want to have two brother over to discuss this ... she will agree.... of course i will hit these guys with biblical textual issues, an biology to where they are stunned and still ask... "so brothers... can you solve this conflict...?".

in this case they will not think of me as an apostate but may question their own beliefs... .

Yes, apparently you have two choices in this:

Misconduct of imperfect human leaders and members doesn't mean an organization is evil. So JW is nothing special, and any religion can be considered God's people. And at least JW should stop bashing other religions, political parties etc because of misconduct amongst them.

Your God chooses adulterous murderers as his leaders. He could have chosen any of the meek, non-murdering, non-alduterous worshippers he has, but he chooses the assholes. What does that say about your God? How is he any better than any other God?

Some with 'weak conscience' will write letters to Santa....er I mean the holy GB:

Are these brothers allowed to play music while preaching with a cult cart?

And then a BOE or item in the CLAM will follow:

Some of our brothers have made creative use of heavenly music while preaching the good news.
While it is true that Jehovah's worshippers have used music to praise Jehovah throughout the ages, it is not appropriate to use music while preaching.
Why not?
First, the music distracts from our beautiful literature trolley, and might negatively effect the apathetic reaction from the public.
Second, playing music brings undue attention to the person performing the music, while this attention should be on the faithful and discreet slave.
Third, the only approved way to bring praise to Jehovah using music is in the kingdumb hell.
Also note that just a single piano is not acceptable for our holy worship, as we are now using orchestral arrangements.
Note to BOE, don't read to Congo:
DF all suckers who continue to play unapproved kingdumb music. Also let us know so we can serve a cease-and-desist and sue them for monetary damages on our copyrighted music.
